Cake smashes are an incredibly fun way to document your little one’s first birthday! At K.D. Elise Photography we start with birthday portraits, then we make a huge mess with cake and finally we clean up the mess in a metal wash basin. Every cake smash session is customized to match the birthday child’s theme or color scheme. Cake smash sessions are an absolute blast and most leave me laughing hilariously!
Parker celebrated his first birthday with me last month. His birthday party colors were blue and green and his mama brought in a couple of items to personalize things and I matched them to the rest of the sets.
I love how the green backdrop matched up with the blue chair in Parker’s birthday portraits. He sat in the chair like an absolute champ too!
After we got our nice pretty photos, we sat Parker down with the cake and let him make a mess. Aileen’s Bakery here in Pueblo provides the cakes for all of my cake smash sessions. I always feel a little bit guilty about letting such beautiful cakes get destroyed but the results are totally worth it! Parker gave us lots of happy faces with a mouth full of yummy cake!
Bath time helped us wind down the session. By this point Parker (like most cake smashers) was done having his hands covered in heavy, sticky frosting. Splashing in the washtub was a fun start to cleanup!
