Hi, I’m Mirranda.
I’m a wife, a mom to three kids, and the photographer behind K.D. Elise Photography. My kids are grown or nearly grown now, which still feels impossible some days. Time has a way of moving faster than we expect, especially once you have children.
That is why I do what I do.
I photograph newborns because that season is so incredibly fleeting. I remember those early days with my own babies feeling like a blur. The hormones, the exhaustion, the middle of the night feedings, and the way days blended together. I remember loving them fiercely, but also realizing later how hard it was to remember exactly what they looked like when they were brand new.
Now, I get to help moms hold onto that time.
Newborn photography is at the heart of my work, but what matters just as much to me is everything that comes after. Watching babies grow. Seeing families return with smiling toddlers, first birthdays, growing siblings, and eventually family portraits that reflect who they have become together. Being invited back year after year is one of the greatest honors of my career.
I have always loved babies. Even as a kid, I was the one asking to hold them. That love never went away. It is what makes this work feel natural to me and why I am patient, calm, and gentle in every session. Babies feel that energy, and parents do too.
I also care deeply about the mamas who come see me, especially during such a vulnerable season. You are healing. You are learning. You are doing something brand new. I want you to feel supported from the moment you walk into my studio. You do not need to have everything figured out. That is what I am here for.
My studio is a place where you can slow down, sip some coffee, and trust that your baby is in good hands. We move at your baby’s pace. We meet them where they are. And we create images that feel joyful, connected, and true to your family.
Now that my own kids are older, I understand even more how quickly these seasons pass. It has shaped the way I photograph families and why I value long term relationships with the people who trust me with their memories. From maternity to newborn, from milestones to family sessions, I love being part of your story as it grows.
I would be so honored to help you capture this season and the ones still to come.
My approach to photography is simple. I want every session to feel calm, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable.
For newborns, that means baby led posing, a relaxed pace, and a focus on safety and comfort above all else. I never rush. We follow your baby’s cues, take breaks when needed, and create space for feeding, soothing, and snuggling. You do not need to worry about whether your baby will cooperate. That part is my job.
For older babies, children, and families, my approach is just as thoughtful. I believe kids need time to warm up, and I build that time into every session. We play, we talk, we are sometimes a little silly, and we let real connection happen naturally. Those moments are where the best expressions live.
I guide you every step of the way, from wardrobe coordination to gentle direction during your session, so you never feel awkward or unsure of what to do. My goal is for you to feel confident, supported, and seen.
Most importantly, I care deeply about the experience you have with me. I want you to leave your session feeling good, not stressed or rushed. I want your children to feel safe and respected. And I want your images to reflect the joy, connection, and love that already exists in your family.
This is not about perfection. It is about preserving a season of life in a way that feels honest and meaningful.
If this sounds like the kind of experience you want for your family, I would love to connect. I am always happy to answer questions, talk through session options, and help you decide what feels right for this season of life.
